Today is the eve of a new year. And while any day can be New Year’s Day, we humans reach a consensus on at least one thing today.
Everyone agrees it’s time to start fresh on the 1st of January.
My birthday is between Christmas and the New Year, so it adds extra emphasis. I spend time reflecting and setting intentions for my next trip around the sun.
In the process, I review what’s happened in the most recent year, but I don’t stop there. I look back further for a theme that has been repeated for several years.
Numerology uses nine-year cycles, while Oriental Medicine uses seven-year cycles. Nine seems to correlate better with my experiences but the important thing to know is that there are phases or cycles of life that often extend beyond just a year or two.
When you’re pausing for reflection to set a theme or intention for the coming year, take the experiences from the last few years into account.
It’s been a wild ride for all of us on planet Earth since early 2020. You may feel like there are some situations that worked during a crisis … but it’s time to distance yourself from them.
The new year is as good a time as any.
What action can you take to make it clear to yourself … and the universal forces that keep the world turning … that 2024 is your year?
A bit of time with your journal will provide the answer to that question.
And, remember, I get you and I’ve got you. One of the easiest ways to get my help is to join MOLT. You can find out more here.
