For the past few weeks, I’ve been struggling with insomnia.
It’s intermittent and doesn’t seem to follow any pattern … which makes it really hard to unravel.
Most people would just try to whac-a-mole themselves back to sleep with melatonin or some over-the-counter medication.
I’m not like most people.
And if you’re reading this, you’re probably not either.
You and I know there must be some reason why sound sleep isn’t happening reliably. Sleep is a natural process. It takes a pretty big disruption to interrupt it.
If you understand how melatonin is made, it’s easier to resist a quick fix.
Melatonin production is the result of a long cascade of events that starts in the gut. In other words, when your gut brain is healthy, your head brain works better.
That’s where your pineal gland lives.
So if you struggle with sleep disturbance, ask yourself “Has my digestion or elimination been disturbed?”
I can answer YES to that question.
The remedy is a full moon cleanse. That’s right after Thanksgiving.
Perfect timing!
Until then, leaning into intermittent fasting helps.
Supplementing with melatonin just allows the root cause of insomnia to gain momentum.
Just say NO to symptom suppression.
Until next week …
Be Well!
