We just embarked on another grand adventure. This time we’re sailing across the Pacific.
There’s lots to do to prepare for time away. Last-minute work projects that can’t be paused, travel planning, and personal maintenance.
It’s the personal maintenance … or self-care … that I’m thinking about today.
I was so busy making sure that I took care of “all the things” that some of my things were neglected.
You may have heard the phrase, there’s no “I” in team.
That’s true but “I” must come first. Too often that’s not the case.
To be a great team player, you need to be in top condition.
Again …
“I” must come first.
But our programming is running, reminding us that taking time for self-care is self-ish. I wince just hearing myself say it.
I’m selfish. But actually not selfish enough. I neglect myself too often.
If you find that you regularly put taking care of yourself last on the list, you’re not alone.
Women are hardwired to be caretakers. We just need to re-order the list of those we care for.
In my book, “What’s Your Kryptonite?” I encourage readers (because I also need to be reminded) to become their own PCP … primary care person.
What can you do for yourself today as your PCP?
This is your reminder. Just do it!
Until next week …
Be Well!
