I have a few new additions to my gift list this year. I realized I was feeling a bit of stress about it. I haven’t done much Christmas gifting in recent years.
My familycame to an agreement quite a few years ago that we would stop exchanging gifts. It was added stress and often ended up with a pile of things that needed to be exchanged.
It’s a bit different with kids. They don’t typically already have everything they want.
As I contemplated what these new “littles” in my world might treasure for years … that I could gift them, I wondered what MY most treasured gifts were.
I went back through the years, and … nothing. Not one Christmas gift stayed with me … even as a memory.
The trip down memory lane wasn’t fruitless. I recalled many fond memories at my aunt’s house when we were young.
My cousin and I were about the same age as these girls are now.
My aunt and grandmother loved playing dominoes. Playing with them at the kitchen table … with the tree and other decorations all around and Christmas music playing in the background … that’s my fondest Christmas memory.
So it really is the thought that counts. Or said another way … sharing yourself and your most valuable resource … time … with those you love.
If you can’t be there LIVE, make time to Zoom. You can Zoom right into the middle of the action.
And after the holiday passes, we will turn our attention to getting a jumpstart on the new year, so stay tuned for next weeks’ issue.
Happy holidays …
