This week, I’ve been visiting my dad and his wife.
It’s been bittersweet.
My dad is 85 now, and in recent years, his health challenges have started to pile up. He’s reached the point where he needs more help than his wife can provide.
What’s hardest for me is knowing that much of this didn’t happen overnight. It accumulated, little by little, as he broke one of his own long-standing rules.
Avoid prescription medications whenever possible.
He used to be firm about it. He knew that one pill often leads to another, and then another.
But as the years went on, he made exceptions. And as is so often the case, those small decisions snowballed.
Now, he’s at a place where “the point of no return” feels real.
I share this not out of judgment … but as a reminder.
And, this is a great example of why I encourage people to “just say no” to the first prescription … unless it’s part of a short-term strategy.
Because once that first pill is swallowed, it becomes so much harder to step back and uncover the root cause of the problem.
And so much easier to end up with a handful of bottles that manage symptoms, but never restore health.
I know it takes more effort to dig deeper, to ask “why,” to listen to your body, and to choose a slower, natural path.
But I promise you … it’s worth it.
Every single time.
Your body is wise. And when you learn to work with it instead of trying to outsmart it with quick fixes, the results may not be immediate, but they are lasting.
So let this be your gentle reminder.
👉 Before you say yes to the first prescription, pause.
Ask questions. Seek alternatives. Do the deeper work.
Your future self will thank you.
If you’d like tools to help you uncover root causes and restore balance naturally, that’s exactly why I created the Wellness Warriors membership. You don’t have to walk this journey alone.
And, take time this week to notice one small way your body is whispering to you. Reply to this email and let me know what you discovered. It’s best to respond with care before it has to scream.
Until next week …
Be Well!
