We tried something new this summer. Last summer we hiked across Spain, so this was quite a shift.

Rather than moving every night or two, I determined that it would be preferable to explore a new area … but still sleep in the same bed every night.

I found an oceanfront condo that met my criteria and rented it for 3 months. We’ve been here most of the time since mid-May.

But tomorrow, I head back home for the last time.

What have I learned?

There’s no place like home.

And, when being a 7 hour drive away, I found myself thinking it would be really nice to just click the heels of those shiny red pumps and be transported …

… but that’s not how it works in the real world outside of Oz.

Feel free to remind me next year when I am feeling antsy and ready for a new adventure that a month is about right.

Less than a few weeks and it doesn’t create enough separation from your day-to-day responsibilities. More than a month and I miss my “stuff.”

Home may not be perfect but the constant challenges I have faced trying to make a temporary place FEEL like home gets exhausting.

And, while some change is good and keeps us flexible …

… “Too much eustress escalates to distress.”
