I was on a call recently sharing my views on symptom suppression. In case you’re new to my approach …
When you suppress a symptom, you are creating an internal storm. Your body manages it until it can’t and then …
Another symptom.
And as the symptoms accumulate, they tend to become more severe. It’s a risky approach, but it is the way we’ve been conditioned to deal with health issues from a very early age.
When I tell patients that they need to stop suppressing symptoms, it’s not uncommon to hear, “What do you suggest I do about X?”
Replace “X” with a symptom you struggle to manage.
As we moved into September, I started noticing some symptoms that are commonly associated with allergy season. When I watch TV even for a few moments, I’m bombarded with commercials that include allergy relief medication.
Just say, “NO!”
If you think I’m over reacting, watch the video I created to help people deal with seasonal allergies. I shared a real world example of the damage that can be caused by even over the counter medication.
Are there any exceptions?
If you’re dealing with an acute emergency … think accident, broken bone, vacation incident … we do what we need to do in the moment.
For a few days … even a week.
It buys us time to come up with a longer-term strategy to solve the problem.
Sustainably and long-term!
Whac-a-mole Symptom Syndrome is not a game you want to play.
I’ll say it again!
Just say, “No” to symptom suppression.
Short term pain can lead to long-term gain if you’re committed to resolving the cause of the problem. You need to pull it out from its roots.
What do I do when symptoms become a problem? I run a fresh set of BioField scans … the same scans I recommend to patients. Then, I put myself on a new protocol that addresses what is causing the symptom.
Sound familiar??!!
I focus on addressing the cause of the problem. The problem resolves itself in the process.
