Hi there, Gala!
Challenged to practice what I preach … when stress was escalating this week.
Eustress was already bordering on distress. But it was obvious that stress was going to quickly turn toxic.
I was faced with allergy symptoms that were overwhelming my immune system. It’s hard to resist the temptation to stop the suffering … working to encourage and strengthen my immune system instead.
Many of my patients admit to taking allergy relief medication regularly. The annoying (or debilitating) symptoms are just not acceptable.
Next week (after I put this week in the rear view mirror), I’m going to share a story that I hope will shock you into reconsidering the symptom suppression approach.
For now, I think it’s important that you recognize the need to differentiate between …
- a chronic condition that we’re unraveling to get to the root cause
OR
- an acute condition that requires a different strategy
When my immune system was bombarded this week, I had to pause the detox protocol I have been using. It’s designed to deal with a build-up of heavy metals. And, it’s pretty stressful on the body’s internal systems that are involved in the process.
This week’s “attack” is considered an acute condition that requires all available resources to effectively address the problem. Avoidable stress should be … avoided.
Detoxing requires energy. You don’t want your body to face a conundrum. Should I continue trying to detox and let this invader proceed?
Rather, make it easy. All energy and resources are diverted to deal with the immediate emergency … the acute condition.
In most cases, you’ll be back to working on the chronic condition … including detoxing … in a week or so. And, your body will be able to fully focus on it … with the added benefit of a bolstered immune system.
Until next week …
Be Well!
Dr. Gala
