Today we’re celebrating a truly remarkable milestone … my mother‑in‑law’s 90th birthday. Ninety years of stories, laughter, losses, triumphs, love, and resilience. What a gift it is to be present for this kind of milestone … not as a spectator, but as a witness to what is possible when we value life in every season.

It’s made me reflect on aging … not as something that happens to us reluctantly, but as something we actively participate in, moment by moment.

We live longer than any generation before us. That’s a remarkable gift of modern life … longer years, more time with people we love, more memories to build.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve said that I wanted to die walking on the beach … at 120. Any companion unfortunate enough to witness this has their instructions. Roll me into the ocean and finally let the sharks have a feast.

I have had an illogical fear of sharks since I saw Jaws as a teenager. I never go in the water past about ankle deep. At this point, who cares!

This type of declaration was scoffed at decades ago but it’s a likely possibility now. Still …  without quality, longevity is a special kind of hell on earth … in my opinion.

We don’t want to be:

  • Sitting in a memory care facility, disconnected from the life we helped shape.
  • Dependent on machines just to keep our hearts ticking.
  • Struggling to bend down, open a jar, or get up off the floor without fear.

We want to be fully alive … strong, balanced, emotionally present, mobile, curious, and joyful … to the last breath.

Here’s what I’ve learned, from both personal observation and from supporting so many women like you:

  • Aging is not passive. It’s not something that just happens to us. It’s something we cultivate with intention, movement, nourishment, rest, and community.
  • Strength is not optional. Not just muscle strength, but structural strength … bones, hips, core … so you can squat, lift, reach, and turn without fear.
  • Balance is your independence insurance. Balance …physical and emotional …determines how we navigate the world, stay upright, and stay engaged with life.
  • Mood matters. There’s a deep connection between hormones, stress, nourishment, sleep, and how we feel from morning to night. Not just in short bursts, but across decades.
  • It’s never “too late” … but time still matters. The longer we wait to build these foundations, the steeper the climb.

You aren’t doing this just for more days on the calendar. You’re doing this so your days are full of presence, gratitude, connection, adventure, and meaning.

So today … as my family celebrates 90 years of a life well lived … let’s celebrate YOU and the life you’re building right now.

Here’s to strength. Here’s to balance. Here’s to joy. Here’s to choosing longevity with quality.

If you could use some support making these suggestions a priority, my Human Energy System Reboot is a great way to jumpstart your new initiative for 2026 and beyond. It’s low-cost and easy … a great combination I think.
