Protein has been getting a lot of attention again lately. It was more than a decade ago that I tried the high protein approach which requires that you consume 1 gram of protein for every pound of body weight.
So, this isn’t my first rodeo … with protein bucking the mainstream nutrition advice.
In the Human Energy System Reboot I developed, I recommend 7 Ways to initiate a reboot. Two of those ways are increasing protein and fasting.
But I don’t recommend consuming over 100 grams of protein in a day. The only way to do that is to essentially eat a carnivore diet.
There are some circumstances where that makes sense for a short period of time but it causes long-term damage to the digestive system and metabolism.
Rather, I suggest about half that. 50 grams of protein in a day … coupled with intermittent fasting.
A 6-hour eating window works pretty well for most women with a couple of days of OMAD (one meal a day) most weeks.
Fasting stimulates growth hormone but your body still needs the raw building blocks and nutrients to create energy for repair and maintenance.
There are 5 additional ways that I combine in the Human Energy System Reboot to make it a super effective week of healing for your body.
I hope you’ll give it a try before you do further damage by adopting yet another crazy diet!
